Down With All Protest

Where is the criterion – right-wrong?
A noisy, loud, boisterous song
Or perhaps “Where on earth do we belong?”
Will the weak whither, ruled by the strong?

It is a hollow, holistic, heavenly howl
Disgusting, dangerous, some throw in the towel
Or if so bland, bone-headed, brazen; go forestall
Until the military/cop anti-group comes to call

For all proclaim the flag of liberty that we are free!
Yet scared, suspicious, secretive in what we see
Revolutionary now called “traitor” in no uniform
Must arrest, eradicate those from the norm

Instead, the peaceful prosperity of family
Struggling to maintain in a conflicting sea
And if dysfunction is on the plate
Arrest, protest under the umbrella of laws of hate

But squelch, choke, shut up contrarian slogan be
It’s to no avail, excuse and plea
A new society so upside down
Most dare not leave their hateful town

For wild revolt and retribution
Axe to your enemy is a new solution
Ethnicity, race, religion, mine
Incredulous, unethical, all by design

Escapee to far-off fertile land
But where to start and where to stand?
Demise of principles long instilled
The old democracy will soon be killed

New manners, morals, mannerism
Too late to find your own schism
A new world in new solid phase
Time to forget the good old ways

Alas, if you only knew
It’s just my fertile imagination and not all true…

Blithe Spirit

Blithe spirit travels on the sunbeam
On ten thousand dust particles
Transports to a mysterious destination
Open mouth – inhales
Enraptured, captured by the spirit
“Why now – why me?”
He happily acknowledges
Today Fate is my bride -
I shall tarry, romp and ride
The joyous overtones of merriment.
Accolades heaved, success acknowledged
Feverish, he decides, almost concurs
Was it all perception, or reality?
Its stamp is tough and lasting
Computer space awarded, the victor
With open arms he/she is received
Believed until the battery dies down
Then the silent shadow vanished
with the sinking sun.

Aged I must celebrate

Aged I must celebrate
Before absent-minded makes it too late
While body and stomach wish for more
The juices search for love to score

Must celebrate in gratitude
For every sunshine is an interlude
Where friends still look me in the eye
Feel the criticism and know just why

Where I peruse with insight
Rejoice and share the light
And tender touch such blessed gift
Reciprocate, give life a lift

Guiltless, I can afford mistakes
Appreciate little things for heaven’s sakes
With infantile freedom roar and laugh
Share memories with friends and staff

Gift Of Giving

A little work of mine to you for this madcap season of holidays:

The Gift Of Giving
Too many holiday gifts to buy
Who to skip and who to satisfy?
All those pointless gadgets for the kids
So many to choose they turn my wits

Then there’s my fussy cousin
So critical, I just buy her nothin’
A dozen friends
That all depends

Some cookware, that’s clear
And eBooks shall appear
The tin box of Belgian cookies
Or lay a bit on the Irish bookies?

My dearest one, my heavenly honey
She loves the GELD (I mean the money)
Best Buy certificates, coupons, cards
Each gets their own to warm their hearts

And while alert and still in my prime
Good wishes coupled in a rhyme
Gift wrap and name tag is a chore
I give from the heart and then give some more

In honor of some friends, a charity donation
Not much appreciated by the youth, so ration
The giver’s heart jumps, full of joy
In humility, bashful and pretending coy

Sometimes I’ll receive some nuts or candy
In a shopping bag lug it home so dandy
Best feeling of joy and rip-roaring rife
And hope for another year just to stay alive

Doors

Doors in our life
The opportunities
Of yesterday
From labor hospital room
To crib at home
Our first security
From room to room
The classroom door so tall
With anxious faces waiting for the bell
First hotel room
Down the hall
Her bed most prominent of all
Beyond each door a dear one
Parent, siblings
Finally the lover
How secretive
How secure
Our room, the kiss to hug
Massage and rub
Do the things that lovers do
Greeting doors
Rejecting doors
Doors simply man’s tools
Tall doors for the brilliant and the fool

Older doors to interviews
Doors of sadness, gladness and good bye
Through door
Comes the view

I am sitting in my bedroom
Door wide open
Messiah and hopeful friends
Never an intruder
The free open door delight
Away from multitude of strife
Prophets Armageddon

Some have a lock
Some many locks
Some doors inviting
Some exciting
Some squeak
Some tilted

Imagine yourself
Which doors have you entered
Ah so many each day
Today, conscious

From space to space
In the privacy of our study
The bathroom, basement and attic
Doors that hold secrets

Many doors of lifetime
Box in the spacious room
Dazzling view beyond the door
Which novels did I enter
Doors show the disarray of its inhabitant
Pain and helpless nerves of abysmal poverty

The door automatic to the elevator
Door open in hotel
The heavy, unencumbered door into the building
Rushing to make the bus before the door closes
So many, many open doors
Taking me to the most titillating
Destination

Doors of many colors
Great hopes
Doors of fear, frustration
Doors I never want to enter again
Doors once opened
See those human angelic faces
Part of youth
Parents young, bidding
Full of love, endearing

Exciting doors into theaters
Concerts
Ballet
Most splendid choruses

Which doors will I open tomorrow
Will I perceive man’s war at first glance

Doors where reception celebration
Overwhelms me

Yes there were doors slammed in my face
Doors closed, finger caught
Shoulder banged, bleeding nose

Doors are solid, demanding
Swinging
It all depends if you enter or leave

Doors are merely extensions of
Our boxes that we live in
Fire doors each cubicle or hall
Doors of separation of sound
Of smell, of life

If you play with pet birds
Never leave doors open
I am your pet bird
For truly doors are not natural
Where in the mountain, valleys
Expansive open meadow field
Do you see doors?

Come, we servants, owners
Have the power to open many doors
By habit and training to close them
Doors to keep in or out, lock (double lock)
Two perspectives, two sides

Depending on which side you stand
The fight between private independence
Openness, without doors, sharing trusting
Give me the open space within
Freedom of movement without
Opening and closing doors
Without fear, concern
After all, isn’t my house your house
Innocent doors simply respond

Swinging in each direction
Barriers, protestors, incarcerators
It’s your choice to unlock, unhinge
And throw the key away
Outside the open space awaits you

Life In Flux

My creative mind spits out
Oral or written word
Excites the world of ideas
Expands the horizon
Has no limits
Your mind too,
is activated now

Revolutionary
Dangerous
Convoluting
Scheming
Contriving
The creative mind.

In silence blossoms
Harnessed,
caged prisoner
Ready to telegraph to freedom
Ready for revolution.
